ZunZun Gwynne Cropsey and Stephen Snyder, aka ZunZun

ZunZun is a performing arts group that celebrates the environments and cultures of the Americas through music. Since 1992 the husband and wife duo, Stephen Synder and Gwynne Snyder Cropsey, has performed in 14 countries throughout the Americas and appeared on regional, national and international radio and television. They perform for over 100,000 people annually. Their humor, vitality and commitment to audience participation make all of their shows vibrant and lively. Their shows utilize a wide variety of folkloric instruments (they play over thirty instruments), to highlight the rich spectrum of cultures and environments they share in North, Central and South America. Their shows are always participatory, multilingual (Spanish, Portuguese, English) and energetic. ZunZun can also be backed by a three piece band that includes drum set, bass and percussion.

The Santa Cruz County Symphony has commissioned a new work from Cropsey and Snyder, to be premiered at the 2008 Youth and Family concerts. The composition, titled the Americas Symphony, will take audiences on a musical journey through the American continents, experiencing the various geographical and cultural regions along the way. Folkloric instruments will be featured, along with bi-lingual narration to introduce the symphonic instruments of the orchestra. ZunZun's skills of audience participation and humor will engage younger audiences in the concert experience.
